Original late 1930's pair of Ray-Ban sunglass clip-ons made for either a child/younger teen or someone with a very small stature. These measure 4.5 inches across when used so please make sure they are large enough if ordering. These include the screws to add frame arms to allow conversion to regular sunglasses if needed. The frames look better than the pics show and that includes a very cool art deco design all around each eye frame. Overall fair to good condition with some wear.

Do you know what model these fit?
lucystreasures1
@johnnyroots No, these are over 80 years old so I'm unsure what they were originally made for at the time. Please note these are smaller than what you might usually see, so they are either made for an older child or smaller stature adult . They measure 4 1/2 inches across fully extended, so the glasses would need to be fairly close to that measurement.

@lucystreasures1 ok cool, I’m digging deep because I’ve been looking for something specific and these might be it. Can I ask you how you know they are from the 1930s?
johnnyroots
And by the way thank you for allowing me to ask so many questions haha
You did say that these come with the case and then two full arms, ear/nose pieces, and hardware as well, is that correct?
lucystreasures1
@johnnyroots We are happy to answer any questions we can. No these do not have the arms, ear/nose pieces etc. These are not sunglasses per se, they are clip ons which is detailed in the description. The reference i made to the screw to add frame arms is so people would know they could convert these to sunglasses since the screws and slot were there to add them, but they did not include arms with them as sold this way since most people would just put them over their regular glasses.

@johnnyroots The research we did on these was extensive and the way I was able to pin down the time frame was the design on the rims is art deco style which was not used after that fashion style faded and the fact these actually had the original sticker on them when i got them six years ago. That sticker is somewhere, although at some point fell off the lens since the glue on it was so old. I had these in an area i still think the sticker is in, and if found will send to whoever purchases.

@johnnyroots Also the case itself helped to date these to the late 30s since that case design was used at that time and had changed at some point after as well. I do not believe these were ever used and any aging was simply from sitting in a desk drawer in a garage for so long.

@lucystreasures1 ok, cool. Yes, totally understand they are clip ons and that’s exactly what I’m looking for. It looks like they are a bit tarnished but would you say they are gold in color?
lucystreasures1
@johnnyroots They are definitely gold in color and although they are tarnished some, some of what you see is the lighting having an effect on the shading of the color. I usually don't polish older items like this since some collectors want that aged patina look. I think they are possibly gold plated but I cannot find any markings to determine that either way.
johnnyroots
@lucystreasures1 yea I like the patina. The jewelry and leatherwork I do is almost always intentionally aged or patina
Ok cool, waiting to check one other thing and I’ll get to these ;)
I’m stoked on ‘em!! Thanks for all your info and help!!
