The Otagiri Mercantile Company was founded in 1954. After 40 years in business, it was sold to a larger company. We received this coffee server as a gift in the mid 1970s and used it every weekend for many years, until we switched to a French press pot to make and serve our coffee. This pot holds five 8 ounce cups. And you can wash it in the dishwasher. It's about 7.5" tall with the lid on. When purchased it will be carefully wrapped and padded to ensure a safe trip. The advantage of stoneware is that it is heavy and retains heat for quite a long time.
