Schiaparelli vintage mink fur coat from the 1950s While Schiaparelli was known for mixing materials in her winter coat designs - most notably mink collars with Persian lambs wool shells- it’s rare to come across a full mink coat by the fierce, trailblazing designer. This coat features a long-haired mink collar, lustrous & glossy. While with the body is crafted from sheared mink which almost feels / looks like velvet. Super soft to touch, light & durable. In a brown hue with hints of maroon (the shades shifts when you run your fingers through) this winter jacket is impressively well-made. Other cool details include spacious slit pockets, silk lining bearing a yardage of Schiaparelli monogram & hook-and-eye closures. The top closure sweeps the collar over, mirroring the dramatic, sculptural lines of her iconic fur designs. This piece is a lovely example of Schiaparelli’s vision, blending practicality with couture artistry. And TBH a testament to mid century craftsmanship in general. No size tag. My guess would be an M-L. Measurement estimates (when coat is closed) Bust - 36.5” Waist - 37” Length -39” In very good vintage condition. No damages or flaws. Minor restoration to repair small tear in the hem of interior lining. Mink fur is nuanced & will have natural wear over time.
