OMG, wanna talk about a piece of American history that you can touch. This jacket is made by Gelhaar Uniform Co(original Cintas) it has a label where ppl have signed it that owned it from 1935-1948. Its a military jacket and it's small. My son bought it at a Antique Shop for a girl that didn't appreciate it. He gave $250 for it and it's been hanging in my closet. It needs someone to wear or use it. I don't wanna see this piece waste away. It's in AMAZING CONDITION. So funny how things last

brandygray1975 @monkeys_corner thank you so much. it blows my mind what good shape this is in. I want to know more about it and I think I may take it to a local antique dealer to see if he can tell me. in 1935 someone wore this and I am almost positive it was military, I don't think women were allowed in any branch then. its SMALL, I doubt any man could wear it...

brandygray1975 @ame257 this is such a unique piece. I wish it fit me bc I would wear it. no one would have one like it and the names written inside the sleeves from 1935 and 1942 just make me smile. these women were serving our country before they actually were acknowledged! that history isn't taught in school.

vintagelife57 Vintage Military Marching Band Jacket. :)
Feb 11Reply
brandygray1975
brandygray1975 @vintagelife57 I contacted Cintas and they said that during the year it was made that they had a government contract to only produce Military appeal. I thought marching band as well when I saw it. however I dont think women were in the military until after that date(I could be so wrong about that) I would LOVE to know the real story about where this came from

brandygray1975 @shelleylee8 its 17" across the back from pit to pit 29" from the bottom of the collar to the hem straight down the back. I hope this helps. I really hope you love it and it works for you. it needs a good home

shelleylee8 Thanks for checking. Could you measure the sleeve length also? By the way, it's a band uniform - you can tell by the buttons. : )

brandygray1975 @shelleylee8 and yeah a nice lady gave me a website to look at. I like in Scottsboro Al. about 20 minutes from Bridgeport Al, where Chicamaga Battlefield is located, they have a civil war museum there and the man who works there(who in my opinion should be working at McDonald's told me it was a "YANKIE OFFICER DRESS BLUE" I knew IMMEDIATELY he was full of crap and had no idea what he was talking about. but after a year of research I have found it is a 1930s Marching Band Uniform
