RAVISHING 1930s' TILT TOY NATURAL STRAW HAT WITH COPPER COLORED BOWS AND VEIL

This is a showstopper natural straw tilt Toy (or Doll) hat from the 1930s'.The ‘Toy' or 'Doll’ hat was a small hat that perched on the very front of the forehead. The upturned small crown is surrounded by a short brim in a triangle shape, with one of the points to the center front. There are copper colored shiny fabric bows on top of the crown creating drama. There is a half veil, which can be placed on top of the brim. The straw circle at the back is to hold the hat in. a tilted position. There is also a hatpin at the back with a pearl-like head. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
