This is truly unIque French designer imported small hat from the 1950s'. The small cap is made of tan straw, and is adorned with 2 white colored feather wings. At the center of the hat where the wings meet, there is a mustard colored bakelite brooch trimmed with rhinestones. The hat is lined with fabric, which shows its age) and a large label. There are 2 small combs attached to the inside, plus an elastic band to keep the hat in place on top of the head.
Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. Post war 1940’s and 1950’s saw many women choosing not to wear hats on a regular basis. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Generally speaking hats remained small and close to the head. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble.
