A Chinese smokey-quartz hexagonal inscribed snuff bottle
This Pre-1900 Chinese hexagonal snuff bottle is carved in high relief with flowers and branches, a Malchite and bone? stopper spoon.
Snuff bottles were popular in China during the Qing Dynasty (1644–1912) and were used to hold powdered tobacco, known as snuff. The bottle is made of smoky quartz, a variety of quartz that gets its color from natural irradiation. The floral carvings on the bottle may depict peonies and magnolias, which are common motifs in Chinese art.
Dimensions: Approximately 3 3/4" x 1" inches
Condition: SEE PHOTOS there is a crack on the top of the rim around the circumference of the top portion of the bottle. The bottom is chipped. Vintage or pre-owned items may have minor flaws or wear that are typical with age and use. These surface imperfections only add to a vintage appeal and do not detract from the beauty of this antique bottle.
