Sculptor Sandra Bilotto was born in April of 1949 and just passed in July of 2023. She possessed exceptional artistic and mechanical abilities from a very young age. She graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Studio Art from NYU simultaneously with earning a degree in prosthetics and orthotics from NYU School of Medicine. She was one of the first women certified in prosthetics and created them for disabled Vietnam Vets and children. Eventually, she moved her focus to creation of dolls, creating them for Ashton Drake Galleries, Mattel, and American Girl among others. She was a reknowned toy sculptor.
