Beautiful Vintage Redware Teapot, made in Japan, with a distinctive raised slip design, a technique known as Moriage, a Japanese pottery style that involves applying raised designs using a clay slip that is painted and glazed. The details give depth and visual interest. It has Japanese iconography aesthetic crossed with a slight Grecian form factor. This teapot is a rich earthy brown with gold and colorful accents. Condition:
• Good Clean Vintage Condition. No chips nor broken pieces. There are marks, scratches either from use or the mfg. process. Marks on unglazed areas. Rough spots or bumps from the mfg process. Circa Pre-War 1940s ('Made in Japan' markers were used on wares from Japan exported to the US from 1921-1941. During WWII, most ceramic factories for exports ceased.)
