Authentic mid-19th century handmade wooden tote dating roughly 1850–1880. This piece is constructed from old-growth pine with warm red-gold patina and features a natural branch handle that was hand-peeled using 1800s tools. All joints are secured with early cut nails, including small square brads and hand-hammered nail heads typical of the period.
This tote shows outstanding primitive character:
Hand-cut curved sides (turning saw)
Drawknife and spokeshave marks from hand-shaping
Branch handle with historic bark-removal scars
Original 19th-century cut nails and tiny early brads
Warm antique pine coloration (reddish, amber, and yellow tones)
Shrinkage, oxidation, and age wear consistent with 140+ years
Approximate Size:
• Length: 9.5 in
• Width: 5 in
• Height: 9.5 in (to top of handle)
This is a genuine mid-1800s handmade American primitive tool tote, not a reproduction.
