Original Mid-Century Modern Watercolor Art depicting 17th or 18th century Japanese life.
Water bearer is a female carrying shells of water. This lovely lady has a yoke make of a tree branch with vessels suspended on each end.
The fisher is carrying his days catch of fish in each hand with his net slung behind his back. He is very thin, so skinny in fact he looks almost starving as you can see some ribs. His state of dress would infer he was just fine wading and pulling in his nets as he had not yet dressed did his meal and was only in his underclothes.
From Germany and obtained during the time he was stationed in West Germany these are from a retired 93 year old Air Force Veteran. He is selling to pay for his medical care. Please keep his needs in mind when making an offer.
I have been as descriptive as possible. No markings on the back of the pictures and no other info is available or remembered at this time. Gold tone 60s frames are included. See photos for details and measurements
