The Nike Jordan Air Ship PE SP Awake NY is a collaboration between Jordan Brand and Awake NY, an apparel label known for its New York City-inspired designs. This collaboration not only pays tribute to Michael Jordan’s birthplace, but also celebrates the sneaker MJ wore before the Air Jordan 1. The "SP" in the sneaker’s name stands for "Special Product." This means that this version of the Air Ship is made with the highest quality materials in the NikeLab. The upper is made of premium leather in Sail and University Red snakeskin details. For example, snakeskin wraps around the ankle cuff and forms a line that runs up the heel.
