HTF Vintage Hand Carved Pipe And Tobacco Or Match Holder Scandinavian Folk Art

This type item was sometimes made with a hanger on the back. This one was made to lay flat on a hearth, etc. These were made for one of two uses: the rounded area could be used to rest the bowl of a pipe and the indentation to hold tobacco. The Second Use was to hold wooden matches with the round area used for striking. These items were used mostly by Scandinavian countries (Northern or Eastern Europe) in the through the late 1800s to early 1920s.
