Highly coveted collector’s item with the entire surface decorated with mandolins woven into the weft in a jacquard pattern! Design and History: The scarf depicts various scenes and symbols associated with the world-famous Venice Carnival, a historic Italian festival known for its elaborate masks and costumes Central Motif: A view of the St. Mark's bell tower (campanile) in Venice. Characters: Figures in elaborate, traditional Venetian masquerade costumes and masks. Details: The corners feature masks and musical scores, while the silk itself has a jacquard weave featuring mandolins Le Carnaval de Venise" (also known as "Fêtes Vénitiennes") was first designed by artist Hubert de Watrigant in 1993/1994. Following legal action from the city of Venice, the scarf was reissued and renamed "Fêtes Vénitiennes" in 1999. Material: It is a 90 cm square scarf made of 100% silk.
