First Edition Will James: Flint Spears

Publication: Charles Scribner’s Sons 1938, New York, First Edition Excellent condition, in dust jacket with minor wear on edges. First printing with the publisher’s “A” and seal on the copyright page. Bound in original orange cloth, tight spine, titles stamped in black on the front cover and spine, ix, 269 pp., illustrations by Will James and photographs at the back of the book. Will James (1892-1942) was an artist and author focusing on the American West. One of his other works, Smoky the Cowhorse, won the 1927 Newbery Medal, a special award for achievements in children’s writing.
