Debbie Shuchat is a Montreal-based women's fashion designer whose eponymous label was popular from the early 1980s to the mid-2000s. Her collections were aimed at working women and featured a blend of classic and contemporary styles with signature details. After launching her line in 1978 and receiving awards, she studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She later returned to Canada, where she relaunched her label and also designed a line of plus-size clothing, becoming recognized by The Toronto Star as the first Canadian designer to work in this segment. She also created a plus-size collection called Shuchat Brodkin and marketed her regular label under the name Debbie Shuchat Now.
