On this celebratory occasion, she conjures a special one for her dog's happiness on his birthday. He stands with front paws on a green agate table by a birthday cake she prepared for him. The soft fragrance of summer surrounds them, plunged in a grove of purple pinguicula primuliflora "roses", Queen Anne's lace, mullein and foxglove flowers. Forest animals have come to witness and join the celebration. The doves bring blessings for peace and carry festive lights and decorations by their beaks; the squirrels are lulled into reverie, enchanted by the girl's singing. It is a story of profound love felt by the girl for her dog and a profound appreciation that the friendship can exist at all.
