Beautiful New Zealand Paua Shell Owl

The iridescent material visible in the owl figurine is inspired by and incorporates Pāua shell, which is native to New Zealand and known for its vibrant, iridescent qualities. The owl is made from New Zealand Paua Shells and has stunning iridescent properties. The red eyes are beautiful. Explanation of Pāua Shell and its use in art: Pāua (pronounced pah-oo-ah): This is the Māori name for a species of large edible sea snails found exclusively in the waters around New Zealand.  Iridescent Shells: The inner layer of the Pāua shell is highly prized for its striking iridescence, displaying a spectrum of blues, greens, purples, and pinks that shift with the light, similar to the material seen in the owl figurine.  Artistic Applications: Pāua shells are widely used in New Zealand art and jewelry, either in their natural form, as inlays, or replicated in other materials like glass or resins to capture their distinctive appearance.  So beautiful to look at. It measures 2 1/4 inches tall and about 2 inches wide at the base. He is made of a resin and wood backing I believe. He has some scuff marks along the top probably from handling and cleaning. They do not affect the appearance of the owl. The last picture shows a manufacturing oddity as there is an indent in the resin. It is smooth and doesn't affect the piece at all.
