This glass compote is a unique piece that has details all throughout its design. The base is round with the middle container attached to it. The middle part has the etched design wrapped around the entire middle. Its top has flower petal looking shapes all around the edge of the container.
As part of the American Renaissance from 1876-1917, this pressed glass, acid-etched and frosted piece was made around 1878 for people to buy in a pattern originally called "Pioneer," but then changed to "Westward HO."
Around the mid-section of the piece, a design featuring charging buffaloes on the plains, running deer/stag in woodlands, and a serene little log cabin
Although there is no color, the difference in shaded, frosted, etched, and clear glass makes the piece so intriguing.
With no chips, scratches, or cracks this piece is in excellent condition.
Measurements are 8.5" tall x 4 " wide in diameter and weighs one pound three ounces before packaging.
This is a highly collectible piece.
