This is a beautiful deep cranberry/ruby, cut to clear vase featuring a traditional stag and bird hunt scene with swirl and thumbprint hand-etched decoration, circa 1880s. It is unmarked, but a dealer I met a long time ago seemed to think it would have been made by Friedrich Egermann. I did a little research recently and also found similar works by Alfred Taube. Someone who is an expert on cut-to-clear would probably know just by looking at it.
Height: 5"
Diameter: 4"
Origin: Czech Republic
Period: Late 19th Century
It's in beautiful condition. I did not clean the inside well, there are water/mineral marks on the interior bottom that are only seen from underneath. I wiped it down, but you can see some fingerprints and dust remaining in the photos. No cracks or chips.
There is, however two spots I need to note that are from bubbles made during glass blowing. Along the opening, [last two photos] I used arrows to show these areas. One (on both photos) is a conical shaped bubble that opens where to top opening surface is. It only opens at the top, rest of bubble is inside the glass wall. I wanted to show it from the side and from the top. Opposite of this is a smaller bubble on the inner edge. Definitely not a chip, it's like a very small diagonal spherical (bubble) opening. My photo doesn't show it very well as I couldn't get the camera to focus on such a small area. Anyway, these happened during manufacturing.
Please view photos for condition.
