I chose to make the polygonal styles with fewer beads to save the wearer from excessive length and weight. I make stiff knots between beads, as they tend to relax the more a mala is used. The inside measurement hanging straight is approximately 17.25" and the tassel measures approximately 2.25" long. These beads are a little different than what you might find in something similar on the market . . . because I have arthritis I started making malas for myself with larger, 10mm beads but the larger beads are also geometrically faceted. This polygonal-cut style also makes it easier for me to hold onto individual beads as I make my way through my meditation.
