Rare velour high-pile appliqué tee🪡💎✨
The fabric of the graphic is velour or velvet. The technique of which it is made is flocking. Flocking is used for smooth and velvety textured graphics. As for the graphic itself of which it comprises, that is called a patch, appliqué, or appliqué patch interchangeably. This specific patch is a HTV high-pile flock appliqué, which is hard to come by in modern fashion ever since they were all the rage in the 70’s and 90’s. This designer garment uses premium grade flock.
What makes it high-pile?
• A raised nap
• A shadowed edge where the fibers stand up
• A plush, dimensional surface
• Individual fibers
• Tall pile height — cheap flock is flush to the surface.
• A fuzzy halo outline
• The edges are crisp but cushioned, indicating quality
High-pile is durable:
• industrial-grade adhesive
• the dense fibers don’t shed easily
• the cut edges resist fraying better than chenille
• velvet flock doesn’t snag like looped chenille
The tactile graphic is smooth and velvety. Unlike chenille patches, which have come back in style, high-pile velour appliqués have yet to make a comeback and are rare considering so. They had surges in the 1970’s & 1990’s and would be great for anyone that loves textured or raised material to fiddle with (such as neurodivergent individuals or anxious folk).
