Why take a chance? Have me measure anything you'd like to be sure before you purchase that the item will suit you. It doesn't take long at all and I really and truly do not mind even if you decide not to purchase. Please ask any and all questions prior to purchasing. Remember, there are no returns on PM. To get a refund you have to say that the seller grossly misrepresented the item and it's so hurtful to accuse someone of that without asking any questions before purchase.

Awesome post girlfriend 😁 Very well said 👏

Agree! You were awesome answering questions and you didn't make me feel like I was a burden by asking. 😀

@ksw078 Thank you so much for saying so! To be honest, I'm usually in the next room from my Posh Stash when anyone asks for a measurement so it's like walking 10 feet :)

I've asked some before and it was like I was asking them to burn the item lol. I was nervous to ask again but you made me feel comfortable so, thank you very much! 😘

@girlabouttown so glad there are other wonderful ladies with measuring tape nearby...only way a gal can know for sure sometimes unless we frequent the brand or cut...and even then!!! xoxo
girlabouttown
@erikagannon I know what you mean! I started selling on ebay at the tail end of 2008 and those buyers want EVERYTHING measured, even non-clothing. :) So to me it's no big deal at all.

@girlabouttown Thank you for posting this! I just had my very first customer try to return an item on Posh and I am so upset! And it was because she never asked any questions. I sold hundreds of things with no issues at all, just happy customers. Then a buyer purchased a bag that had some issues very clearly disclosed and purchased it without asking any questions. I offered to answer questions and take more pics but she did not communicate with me at all. I do feel like a return indicates the seller willfully misrepresented the item, so I am so upset she did this. I wish she would have asked questions and asked for more pics upfront instead of not asking questions and then getting buyers remorse. I bought plenty of things that did not fit or had a little more wear than I expected but I would never return an item unless it really was a scam or other significant issue. With the few purchases where I had a small issue (stains etc) I worked it out privately with the seller.

@heathermckay That's actually why I posted this. I had a lady report an item of mine and return it even though I had disclosed the issues with it but I didn't stress them enough to her satisfaction. I think it's unfortunate because some people abuse the guarantee. They shop on here (and probably other sites) thinking it's the same as buying from J Crew or something. (And to add insult to injury, she ruined the item so I cannot even attempt to sell it again, it just has to go in the trash now. ) Now I have another reported item I'm dealing with that was the last straw for me, so I created this listing to basically put my 2 cents out there. I think these buyers are thinking that they are simply returning the item when that's really not the case. I've seen it happen to a lot of great sellers and it's so upsetting. I need to post another one of these about the definition of used clothing. :) The second reported item I can sympathize with the woman because I looked into her closet and she's had quite a few reported items when she was relatively new so it's very possible she honestly thinks that's what you do when you simply change your mind.

@girlabouttown How did Posh handle the complaints that you were involved in? Did they at least do an investigation? If they accept the return, the money is not an issue because I would have only cleared $40 (on a $500+ bag!). It's just the stigma of having a return that bothers me. On Posh, your reputation is everything as a seller. Plus I am a suggested user (I think you are too) and I do not want it to jeopardize that. I would hate for Posh to just accept the return without an investigation. You're right, we are real people here and not big retailers. It actually hurts my feelings a bit for someone to basically accuse me of misrepresentation. It's funny, the bag in question is a "re-Posh" and when I bought the bag the lady I bought it from was MUCH less descriptive of the issues with the bag than I was in my listing. When I received it there was more wear than I expected, so I just re-Posed it. I never thought to return it, I figured it was my fault for not asking enough questions and taking a risk on a bag priced really cheap. When I re-poshed it I was very careful to clearly describe those issues.
girlabouttown
@heathermckay I assume they investigated because it takes several days to process their request after we get the dreaded email. I didn't tell them my side of the exchange because I didn't know if that was appropriate or what. I really want to tell them about this most recent one but I figure it might be best to stay out of it. I always reposh things that don't work out for me. It's the nature of online sales, it's the risk you take and it's why it costs less to buy on sites like PM. At least that's how we feel! Maybe the ladies who think they are returning items to a store don't have experience with resale?
girlabouttown
@heathermckay Also, I'm so flattered that you thought I was a suggested user, I would love to be someday and congratulations for your being one! I definitely feel like these reports could be potentially causing me to not be considered, although I had a Posh Friend give me a pep talk and she reminded me that I've made a lot more sales with happy customers. But I think it goes back to the truth that 10 people can walk by and say "wow, you're gorgeous" but if 1 person walks by and says "you're fat!" that's all you'll think about.
thehautemama
@girlabouttown Im surprised you are not a suggested user. You have a great closet and were a fantastic seller, so you should be :) There is no rhyme or reason to who they select. I was really surprised and honored when I found out, I had not lobbied for it so I still have no idea why they picked me :). I would love to host a party, not sure how they select party hosts either. There are a re great sellers who totally make sense (like you!), then you find a handful of just random ladies with a low number of followers, very few sales and that never seem to engage/share etc. not sure where they find them!
thehautemama
@girlabouttown Good news, I just got a note from Poshmark and they rejected the claim. What a relief, it makes me happy that they investigated.
girlabouttown
@heathermckay Me too! It made my day! I'm glad they look into it!

This is awesome idea! Mind if I borrow?
girlabouttown

Excellent post!

@heavywater Thank you so much 😘

You are so right! I measure everything, often when not asked, just to make sure things conform to standard sizing. Without a return system, we have to do everything we can to ensure people can really use what we sell. Bravo! 💙💙
