Artwork titled "Jealous Gloaming" by Miz Marrus. "Gloaming" refers to the brief period of half-light between dawn and morning, or twilight and night. Personified, I believe she’d be a half-thing, half flesh, half bone, envious of all the attention that night and day receive. Here, she bars those two time periods apart with her hair and body, nighttime without, daytime within, so that her time on earth can last just a little bit longer… The artwork personifies "Gloaming" as a being, half-flesh and half-bone, who is envious of the attention given to full day and night. She uses her hair and body to separate day and night, prolonging her time on Earth. This piece is part of a triptych that also includes "Ghost Horse" and "BloodSprite". “Gloaming” is a word on the cusp of becoming archaic - it means the brief half-light between dawn and morning, twilight and night.
