Vintage Solid Bronze Mortar And Pestle Small Thick Heavy

This gorgeous vintage mortar and pestle set is crafted from solid bronze, making it a durable addition to any collection. The small size, thick walls, and heavy weight of this piece suggest it was used for grinding small amounts of materials in a laboratory or apothecary setting. The mortar measures 3.25”H x 4 5/8” top rim diameter x 3 3/8” bottom rim diameter and weighs 3 pounds 11oz. The pestle is 4.5” long, and not original to the piece as it was purchased separately. This very old piece was almost completely black when we first got it, and we had it professionally polished. You can see the early hand casting marks along with some pitting. Overall, it is in very nice condition with some scratches and nicks in the bronze consistent with age. Please review all photos as they are part of the description.
