Genuine Murano Sommerso Uranium Glass ~ Murano glass is a type of glassware that originated on the island of Murano, located in the Venetian lagoon in Italy. The history of Murano glass can be traced back to the 13th century when glassmakers from Venice were forced to move their workshops to Murano due to the risk of fire in the city. Over time, Murano Glass developed into a highly refined and sought-after art form, with many famous creators contributing to its legacy.
This is a rare Italian fluted vase in striking green-yellow and clear sommerso glass, that glows in UV light. I do not have a proper UV light to get great pictures but, I tried...The extraordinary quality and elegant star-shaped design. This beautiful hand-blown vase will make a colorful Murano glass centerpiece and will also look great with flowers to brighten up any room. Excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. It does have a watermark as I have had flowers in it.
Please examine the pictures as they are a crucial part of this listing. If there are any more details that you need, just let me know and, I will be happy to provide any information to you that will help you make an informed purchase! My items come from a non-smoking home however, I do have cats.

i believe with fair certainty that this glas contains manganese and not uranium. Manganese was used as a clarifier whereas uranium was added as a colorant. Manganese will not glow very well (not as brightly as uranium) and will only glow under 365 wavelength uv light whereas uranium will glow under 395 light which is most common with uranium glass collectors.

@rlmortensen very true

Pretty certain this is not a uranium glass vase. I have a Murano uranium vase and this is not an example of one. Still a beautiful piece

@purplebubblekt why would you send me a website on beginners to uranium glass? Ive been an avid collectore for over ten years and own over 500 pieces….and the piece youre advertising here is NOT uranium, its manganese!
rlmortensen
@vintagevet82 you are correct. It’s absolutely manganese and not uranium.

@rlmortensen yeah I know. Uranium doesn’t reflect the purple UV wavelength of the black light, it absorbs it and that’s what makes it glow. Just another seller trying to get someone one to buy something overly priced based on a buzzword craze right now.
