Hi! I'm Kristin, Posher since 2012, east coast native (yay Pittsburgh!) living in Philly, but also missing Portland, OR, where I lived for 3 years. I'm a Fashion Merchandising grad with a passion for visual display and an obsession with shoes and jewels. I love traveling, art, books, FOOD, and binge watching TV shows. I have many vices. I do think it's a great decision to find things outside of the Wholesale Portal since Posh is saturated with those items. For me, I just searched until I found items that were unique and met my personal standards in terms of quality. Also important to consider price/profit, of course. I know that's not much, but hope it helps!

Poshmark is strictly for women's clothing and accessories. Posting unsupported items can result in Posh deleting your account so it's always best to stick with what's allowed. So far the things that have helped me to be the most successful are sharing my closet often (I share my entire closet at least 3x/day and make sure to share to all the parties each day) and trying to take great photos. If you have access to natural lighting, it is a great asset. If not, investing in a lighting kit is a good idea (I spent $50 on one on Amazon and it was life changing! lol).

If you don't have a photography lighting kit, you may want to invest in one. Best $50 I ever spent and greatly improves lighting. Photography backdrops: lots of options on Amazon. I bought mine on Etsy but Amazon is likely cheaper. Not sure about the emoji symbols thing. And typing descriptions in the notes app then copy/paste is the only way I know to format descriptions.

It's impossible and people will understand! Expect to have a lot of notifications, especially the night before and day of the party. People will be asking for HPs even during the party, up to the last second so mentally prepare yourself lol 😂

fancypantsmcgee @kit_kidm it can be tempting to take offers on items that have been sitting for a while. But just remember that you dictate the price of your items, not the people who send you low offers. Don't accept anything you don't feel comfortable accepting. It's a great way to train people to know what to expect when they come to your closet. For example, if you always accept low offers, you'll be known as a closet where people can get things for cheap and that's what they'll expect.

fancypantsmcgee @kit_kidm For the items that aren't moving and have been listed for a while, I'd suggest relisting them. Delete the old listing and post the item again (a new covershot helps). Sometimes that's all you need to get a totally new set of eyes on the item. I've sold many things this way. Also, try target sharing. Like if you want to share your Miu Miu boots, try sharing other Miu Miu items or sharing/following the closets of people who have purchased Miu Miu in the past.

Share your own items frequently, but also share others items a lot. Follow new closets, especially ones who have similar sizes/style as yours, as they'd be more likely to buy from you.

I used to take all my photos with a white table as my background, but bought some photography backdrops a while back and have been using a marble backdrop most recently. You can find backdrops on Amazon, Etsy, etc. Some people like to use a white furry rug as well. Hope that helps!

fancypantsmcgee @regrrl No problem at all! I have a lighting kit that I purchased on Amazon for around $50. Nothing fancy but gets the job done! I use my iPhone for photos about 90% of the time. Occasionally I'll use a camera if my phone isn't charged, but it's just a basic point and shoot, so again, nothing fancy. :)

fancypantsmcgee @nicknak121 I use my iPhone 6 for 90% of my photos, but sometimes use an actual camera (though nothing fancy). I shoot my items on a table and use a little step stool to get a decent vantage point. My best tool is def my lighting kit though, good lighting makes a huge difference!
